Hi Bruce, I heard your song hey baby today and thought of you. I grew up in Colleyville, TX and I think you were my Sunday School teacher. You came over and gave my family a copy of your record, my Dad was a huge fan. I remember you and your wife tried to talk my little sister into coming to church but she just threw a fit.

Bruce, in '62, I was 9 years old when i found a jukebox unplugged in a storeroom of my Dad's restaurant. I plugged it in and the unit set up and played Hey Baby on its own. I was transfixed from the opening harp notes, thru the vocals, straight to the end of the song. I played it over and over many times hat day, and in the following days and weeks. The jukebox was in fine shape and had an 18' driver. I would place my head right up against the front of the box and be carried away by the sound. I'm a pro musician now and would LOVE to the specifics of your relationship with D Mc, the other musicians, your co-producer, and the actual recording: The dimensions of the room, how the bass, drums, guitar, harp, voices were arranged around the mic(s). Etc. For me he record is as strong today as it was in '62m despite all of the technology that has invaded the process since then, Thank you for making a milestone and a benchmark Bruce.

Big fan since '62. Many have copied bits and pieces from "Hey Baby"...all of which are easy to trace back to the original tune done by Bruce. Pretty good tribute to the song's longevity.

Love your songs and was wondering if you are aware that a lot of High schools have adopted your song, Hey Baby as an official pep rally song. I think its great. In fact I wanted to let the band directors know of the history behind that song. Love to hear your comments on this. thak you very much..

I don't know if Bruce or anyone from the site will answer this, but maybe someone else will respond. I have always heard Bruce Channel pronounced shuh-NELL, although it is spelled like English Channel. Wikipedia says it is shuh-NELL, but you can't always trust Wikipedia! So, what is it?

I was at Mugs & Jugs in Clearwater Florida several years ago and someone claiming to be you sang "Hey Baby!" during their karaoke hour. I just wanted to confirm that was indeed you who sang for everyone that day.

You were singing in a bar on main street in Fort Worth (1961) and I was given a going away party to the Navy that night by a bunch of Grapevine Crazies. We ended up at some ladies house where I met George Jones, what a night. The next morning I was on a train to boot camp.
Hope your doing well,
